Women of Wisdom-Josephine (Part II)

So, every so often I think it’s only fair that update you all on how some of the ladies that I interviewed before are doing now. I am super excited to say that Ms. Fashionista AKA Ms. Josephine Threat is at it yet again! I got the chance to chat with her again and I am super excited to tell you about her new ventures.
Let me reintroduce Ms. Threat…

How has your focused changed since the last interview?

My focus has changed a lot. I was in a situation where my drive was there but my actions were not moving as fast as my drive. I took a step back but now that I have found myself at a better place, I have stepped out of fear and started to chase my dreams and reach my goals daily. I am more focused and determined than ever to achieve what I love to do the most.

How do you find the time (and energy) to juggle all your different responsibilities?

Honestly, it is hard at times to juggle all of what I am trying to accomplish but by the grace of God I have been able to succeed and achieve at everything I have set my mind too. I know what I want and where I want to be and daily I vision myself in that position and push myself to the limit with no regrets on my choices and decisions I may make.

How do you reprioritize your schedule if you run into a conflict?

My schedule can get pretty hectic and there are things that I may miss, but I make sure that I own my mistake and apologize for them. I then make sure I get it accomplished as soon as possible. I am usually on top of everything but when you are a mom and a hardworking woman, you tend to put too much on your plate and try to achieve it all and sometimes you have to step back and say, “Hey, I can’t do this on this day but I can make sure that it is done by this day.”

Are you working alone or do you have a team? How did you create a support system?

I am working alone on my brand, but I am building with others on different projects that have the same goal in mind with helping out the community.

I create my support system by talking to people about what I want to do for the community or what I want to do in life. You never know who you may meet or what they may be able to help you with. I was always this shy little girl/young lady, but I am learning that it is OK to be more open about certain things and be OK with what you want in life and care less with what others may say or think. As long as I have God on my side, I can achieve anything I put my mind to.

Is it important to have a more stable form of income while you focus on your dreams? When do you feel you can step out and focus solely on your dream?

It is very important to have a stable income while you focus on your dreams. I am blessed to have a love for law and fashion. I work a normal 8-5pm job in law and I am very grateful for it, but I am also able to work in fashion after those hours, which is a blessing.

I am working one of my passions which is law, but I feel that until I am where I need to be in fashion, I cannot just step out at this moment. I have a son to feed and a household to take care of.

In fashion, I want to build more connections, network a bit more, and learn what exactly I am getting myself into. Learning is key and timing is everything. I would rather take years to learn then to jump out and know nothing about the business I am seeking to strive in. God has the last say on everything. Being patience is key.

Do you consider yourself a brand and how do you market yourself?

I definitely consider myself a brand. I work so hard to get to where I am and my name means everything to me.

I market myself by always being presentable. As a fashion stylist, you have to look the part. I can’t walk around in sweatpants and a t-shirt and say I am a fashion stylist. No one will take me seriously. I have to look the part at all times. I must always give 100 percent nothing less.

Would you like to add anything?

To all the readers who support and read Renee’s Blog, Never let anyone tell you that you cannot do something because of who you are or where you come from. Anything is possible; you just have to continue to believe in yourself. Push through the hard times and trust the light will soon come. Continue to stay focus and continue to pray to God. Keep God first, then family, and everything will fall in place.
